Article-specific illustration of daily dog care

Donating, supplying goods and volunteering support different needs and require different preparation. Using official guidance from The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), we explain care for rescued dogs and cats and what readers in Japan or elsewhere should check before getting involved.

Who the activity supports: life after rescue

PAWS describes its work to prevent animal cruelty and abandonment through education and its operation of the PAWS Animal Rehabilitation Center (PARC). PARC is in Quezon City, Philippines, and cares for rescued dogs and cats as they prepare to move into new homes.

Taking an animal into a facility is not the end of support. Daily feeding, cleaning and a safe living environment also matter. Support Circle looks beyond the rescue itself to activities that sustain care afterwards.

How do donations, supplies and participation differ?

Choose a method by its purpose and your ability to continue

For a monetary donation, check the official recipient and explanation of use. For supplies, compare PAWS’s published wish list with delivery requirements. Local participation requires more than travel: an application and time for continuing involvement may be necessary.

For example, someone in Japan who cannot visit regularly might read official information and consider donating or sharing it. Someone able to contribute time locally could check volunteer requirements. This is a hypothetical comparison, not an actual participant’s experience.

What to check before donating from abroad

Review the recipient, currency and recurring-payment conditions

PAWS’s official donation page explains online donations and bank transfers. Follow the official guidance from this article to check the methods currently available. We do not copy bank-account numbers here; consult the latest official display.

Check in this order: whether PAWS is the recipient; whether the payment is one-off or recurring; amount and currency; payment, transfer and exchange costs; and contact or cancellation methods. A listed payment method does not guarantee that a Japanese card or bank account can use it.

When budgeting in yen, also check card or transfer-service costs. Tax information addressed to US donors cannot automatically be applied to Japanese donation deductions.

For supplies, check both what is needed and how to deliver it

The official wish list includes dog and cat food, carriers and other care equipment, as well as towels and cleaning supplies. Everyday hygiene items matter alongside more visible forms of help.

When shipping internationally from Japan, consider postage, delivery time and the recipient’s burden. Do not send items solely because they appear on a list; confirm types, quantities and handover arrangements with the official contact. Comparing local procurement with monetary support helps assess the total cost.

Consider volunteering separately from travel plans

Applications, orientation and continuing time commitments

The official recruitment information checked on October 7, 2026 described an application, orientation and a commitment of eight hours each month for six months. It also explained a PHP 1,000 deposit, its return after continuing participation, and what happens if conditions are not met. Requirements may change; check again when applying.

Routine tasks may include dog walking and facility cleaning. A single visit during a short trip is not the same as regular volunteering; ask what arrangements can be accepted. Follow official guidance on safety for activities involving direct contact with animals.

Frequently asked questions

Can I help without donating money?

Official guidance includes supplies and volunteering. Choose a method you can sustain and check acceptance conditions. When sharing activities, consider linking to official pages instead of reproducing photographs without permission.

Can I visit without contacting the facility first? Official guidance says an appointment is required. Discuss the date and purpose in advance.

Does this page accept PAWS donations? No. Support for PAWS is handled through PAWS’s official channels, separately from Support Circle’s donation payment process.

Relationship with Support Circle

This is a world support story introducing a third-party organization. It does not present PAWS activities as work operated or carried out by Support Circle, nor demonstrate a partnership, transfer or local participation. We organize official public information and add points for comparing support methods.

Projects in which Support Circle is involved appear in a separate list. Even within animal welfare, the operator and payment recipient differ between an introductory article and our own project. Check each purpose and relationship.
